Farmer?
follow farmer is a list of ag people who are members of the twitter service. if you find this directory useful, we encourage you to let people know about it as you converse on twitter, especially new users who are wondering who to follow.
how do i get added to the follow farmer
list?
there is some specific steps on getting added to the follow farmer list –
1) follow the “@followfarmer” user on twitter
2) send a @reply to @followfarmer explaining how you and your tweets are related to agriculture.
3) be patient!!! – once you have done this, we the list is not updated instantly but requires a manual process that we hope to do once per week, but no garantees
make sure the information in your twitter profile, esp. the location and description are accurately and completely filled out. if you are doing something unique as it relates to ag (and most of you are) make sure to put that word in your description. that way people looking for twitter users with that specialty can find you – examples would include (simmental cattle, ag law, organic, popcorn, etc.)
understand if you are already on the list you can still update this info in your profile and at the next update of the list your new information should appear.
this work is nothing more than the ideas of a couple of farmers. we certainly welcome feedback, but more than that we welcome discussion. our twitter id’s are @farmerhaley and @daringrimm. if you have thoughts/ideas/questions/or suggestions feel free to start a conversation on twitter and we will see where it goes. understand that this effort is done in our spare time and it takes a fair amount of time just to maintain and add to the list, so no guarantees your wonderful idea will be acted on very rapidly. which leads to another suggestion – if you are interested in learning more about the technology behind this tool or helping to improve and grow it we would welcome that as well, just let us know.
at present, the main thing we would like to add is the ability to develop a more automated process of updating the data from twitter into this list. that includes the ability to allow you to more easily suggest changes to the category and possibly add other details like a website link, etc.
in the future we would like to better and more completely integrate this service with twitter and continue to develop it as a useful twitter resource for the agriculture community .
